“Capitalism Works for Me: True/False” Introducing a Live Blog

October 7th, 2013  |  Published in Uncategorized

From October 6 to 9, Steve Lambert is taking votes: “Capitalism Works for Me!” reads the lit-up sign he has installed on Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets. A scoreboard keeps track of how many choose True, how many False. Standing there in Times Square, in a brown porkpie hat whose hue matches his long beard, Lambert draws voters in to conversation. ArtsCultureBeat is dropping in over the four days of this public referendum to provide some reports, background, and reflection. We begin with some snapshots of some Sunday afternoon voters. (By 5:30 that evening, False was ahead of True, 228 to 196.)
